ANDRÉ FU LIVING LAUNCHES NEW COLLECTION - TRACES OF NATURE

Andre Fu Living brings nature to the home this holiday season with his latest collection of furniture, carpets, tableware, decorative lighting and textiles. TRACES OF NATURE blends Andre Fu’s own rediscovery of nature with his passion for traditional craftsmanship. In a departure from the digital world, the collection beautifully retraces the lines of nature to uncover its organic art forms.

“This past year has allowed me to reconnect with myself – reflecting on my inner values and expanding my perspective, past routine and everyday life. By seeing everyday existence in a new light, I have uncovered personal inspiration in nature. Taking a moment in time to observe and absorb the environment around, one will find repetition, variation and asymmetry, and recognise the power of nature to compose art.”

TRACES OF NATURE takes particular reference from the lyrical landscapes of the Asian continent. Exploring its vast horizons, Fu discovered a tapestry of inspiration, from the intricate contours of farming terraces and rice paddy fields in China, to the sculpted, monumental mountains of Japan. Their cascading shapes and delicate silhouettes are refined into the expressive lines of Fu’s designs, which will bring a sense of calmness and peace to the home over the holidays.

The tableware pieces in the new collection are crafted from delicate porcelain. Each piece is decorated with hand-painted lines, evoking individual memories of personally significant landscapes within each viewer. The lyrical lines are accentuated with gold gilding that plays with light and shadow across the surface of the tableware, adding a poetic quality.

The decorative lights are one of the highlights of the launch. The new CASCADE table lamp uses a specialist casting technique to create the glass, which gives it a herringbone texture. Heat is then used to fold the glass into the required shape. The patterned glass suggests images of rippling waves or cascading water and ice, evoking natural forms and creating a dramatic elegance. The new Trunk tablelamp is highly sculptural, evoking the intertwining profiles of tree branches.

Discussing Traces of Nature, Fu comments:

‘It is time to reflect on the essence of living and appreciate the beauty of inner peace. I hope this year-long unveiling of design pieces inspired by natural forms can be genuinely integrated into the lifestyles of others, bringing new meanings to their own ways of living.’

About the brand André Fu Living

André Fu Living [AFL] marks architect André Fu foray into a world of lifestyle offering that goes beyond his spatial creations.

‘It is not about imposing a lifestyle, it is a personal expression of living.’ says Fu.

The brand seeks to celebrate the notion of lifestyle with a multi-category collection, from tableware, bed linens to furniture and decorative lighting. The collection celebrates Fu’s personal life and taps into his exploration of a world that embraces his design language of relaxed luxury.

The branding itself has adopted a calligraphic approach with an intent to evoke handcrafted values with a nod to Asian typography scripts. The ‘A’ ‘F’ ‘L’ are combined into a rotationally symmetrical monogram, which allows products to be subtly branded in the manner of a jeweller’s hallmark.
